Dear Stuart,

Today, we're rolling out our biggest and most important campaign to date: a massive global grassroots appeal to President Obama to set the world's course to zero nuclear weapons in his second term. At the heart of this campaign is an amazing 2-minute video narrated by Michael Douglas, a passionate leader of the Global Zero movement -- and that's where you come in.

You need to see this video. Your friends and family need to see this video. President Obama needs to see this video. Please watch and share it today and help us spread the word.

The more people who watch this video, the more likely it is to make it on the White House's radar. We're firing on all pistons to get it seen far and wide -- not only to crystalize the vision of a Global Zero future for people all over the world, but to help President Obama see his unique role in leading the way.

That's why we're asking you to share this video with your friends, family, coworkers and anyone who can help spread the message:

www.globalzero.org/demand-zero/2030

You're already an important part of something big. Now's your chance to make it even bigger. With your help this video can make a big splash in the public, the media and the White House.

Watch and share it. Be noisy. Join us as our global movement unites to demand zero!

Onward,

Lauren, John-Michael, Marion, Erin, Alex, Derek and the rest of the Global Zero team

P.S. -- Our video links to Global Zero's petition urging President Obama to take the next bold steps to global zero. Have you signed it yet?

It's worth looking at the carefully argued background paper as well

Object to AWE's plansAct to stop upgrades at the Atomic Weapons Establishment

The deadline is approaching - get your objection in if you haven't already.

The Atomic Weapons Establishment is seeking planning permission for a new "Conventional Manufacturing Rationalisation facility" at its site in Burghfield, Berkshire.

The facility would help manufacture the non-nuclear parts of the UK's nuclear warheads and is part of the wider multi-billion pound upgrade programme at AWE. AWE had been expecting to be tasked with building new warheads in the next few years but this has now been pushed off into the future. No doubt this is in part due to the strong opposition and outrage this would cause. Despite this, billions of pounds continue to be poured into Britain's nuclear labs on the justification of 'maintaining' the current warheads.

We need to ensure the maximum number of objections reach the local council ahead of the deadline on the 16th March. Use our model email tool to register a planning objection today and send this on to friends who might like to object too.

Demonstrate when Blair is recalled to the Iraq Inquiry

Friday 21st January

Tony Blair is being recalled to give further evidence to the Iraq Inquiry a week on Friday. When he appeared in front of Sir John Chilcot's panel last year hundreds demonstrated outside - join us, together with the Stop the War Coalition, next week to send the message that those who launch illegal wars must be held to account for their crimes.

Further details will be announced shortly but it is expected that the demonstration will continue through the day while Blair is in attendance at the QEII Centre. Check the CND website for details as they are announced.
